It is an immense privilege that I can dabble in a medium that has given me so much. For more than a decade now, film has brought much to my life. I owe a lot to all my teachers who introduced me to film and showed me a world that has given me some of the most artistic, joyful and poetic moments of my life.

Watching a Satyajit Rai, Wajda, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Kieslowski film has been unforgettable. The experience created by the juxtaposition of different elements, the moving images unfolding in time, and the subtle nuances opening up over multiple viewings, have changed me from within. It is only with film that all the arts come together for me, where the other joys, that I received from poetry or music or painting or a great book and yes, my other passion dance culminated in a unique way!

To be in a dark room surrounded by strangers, yet alone, watching the film unfold, with all its nuances, carving its way into my mind, heart and my very consciousness, has been profound.

Sharing here, an utterly poetic moment in film, which was painted on screen and created by one of my most favourite filmmakers of all time – Satyajit Rai. Words are not enough to express my admiration for a man, from this country who created an art so great, at a time when making film was such a herculean task.

A film lives forever. If you manage to capture some magic in the process, it is a reward of it’s own. It is this magic that I look forward to in watching, creating and collaborating with others, who are walking their path on a journey that brings us together, even if for just a few moments.
